Tips for extending using life of high-speed steel saw blades
1, New high speed steel saw blade test
In order to extend the using life, metal sawing machine and new high-speed steel saw blade (the new unused high-speed steel saw blade or the high-speed steel saw blade after each re-sharping) do need have a more complete running-in process. Within first beginning 10 minutes, it is very necessary to reduce the feed rate.
2, Cutting and feeding speed
The cutting speed depends on the cross-section and toughness of the workpiece being cut. For stainless steel, a hard-to-cut & high-toughness material, slower speeds are very beneficial to increase the using life of high-speed steel saw blades; and for some iron material, a low-toughness materials, high-speed steel saw blade rotational speed can be increased accordingly.
3,Re-sharping high speed steel saw blade in time
Always pay attention to the working conditions of high-speed hacksaw blades. If abnormal situation happen, such as vibration, squeaking, or moving the material on the processing surface, the machine must be shut down in time for adjustment, and be repaired in time to maintain sharp teeth. The timely and correct re-sharping of high-speed steel saw blades can maximize the performance of high-speed steel saw blades.
4, add suitable coolant
Because of high temperature generated during cutting, there is a possibility that the high-speed steel saw blade will be deformed. Without coolant, not only the using life of the high-speed steel saw blade will be affected, but also the cutting effect will be unsatisfactory. So add coolant.
5, Observe sawdust to determine the current performance status of high-speed steel saw blade
1) Sawdust is very fine or powdery, indicating that the cutting pressure is too small
2) Thick & soft sawdust, indicating cutting overload
3) Sawdust is long spiral filaments, indicating good condition
4) If you increase the feed rate, you should select the coarser teeth
